Young stars shine at Little Theatre

WITH a stellar range of performances in the recent eisteddfod, there's no doubt that Stanthorpe has talent.

But what if your speciality is casting a spell with your magic wand or contorting your body 15 different ways? That's where the new show, Stanthorpe has Talent comes in. Held at the Little Theatre in Connor St, the show is so popular that it has be run over two Saturdays.'The show within a show' is set as a live taping of a television program, with the audience as part of the studio.

Judges and the presenter are young actors who have been working hard on characterisation.

Aged between five and 16, audiences will be entertained with interpretations of popular dance and song, comedy acts, variety and spoken word, plus of course, stellar assessments from the top-flight junior judges.

And as anybody who has watched any show with 'Idol' or 'X' in the title, knows that the judges are really the stars of the show. The parts will be played by Lilly Mitchell as Ivy, Tahlia Dawson as Skyla and Ena Furness as Rosetta.

This performance has been written as a collaborative effort, with workshops, voice training and characterisation with our young actors to produce the script. Each performer has total control over the choreography, blocking, characters and costuming of their piece, making this truly a unique and enriching event for young actors.

Public Performances are Saturday, June 15 and Saturday, June 22 starting promptly at 6 pm. Little Theatre members will be invited to a sneak peek preview earlier.

Tickets will be on sale at Gracious Giving for $20 per adult, $50 for a family or $10 for kids. Home baked supper, coffee and tea, along with wine cheese and soft drinks will be on sale before the show and at the interval. Doors open at 5.30 pm.

The Little Theatre has a full program of events throughout the year, including members-only film screenings, open mike and drama. comedy and music performances.

Many events have tickets available at the door but membership packages are encouraged.

Membership starts from $50 per year and includes discount tickets to shows and events, free access to all film events hosted by the Stanthorpe Little Theatre plus free member ticket to dress rehearsals for each show.
