Young riders enjoy success

Pony club: FORTY-THREE riders from across southern Queensland saddled up last month for the annual Stanthorpe Gymkhana.

August 19 was Stanthorpe Pony Club's time to shine with many local riders taking out age champions.

The town played host to riders from Oakey, Tenterfield, Texas and everywhere in-between.

However, it was Stanthorpe Pony Club that performed the best scoring 317 points throughout the day.

Club president Amanda Day said the day was about more than just competition.

"As competitive as it was it was also a social sort of the day for kids to get out and meet other kids interested in doing the same stuff as they are,” Day said.

"A lot of kids were in their first competition and they were very happy with the way that they went.”

Day also thanked all the local businesses who supported the eve's multi-draw raffle.

Stanthorpe Pony Club will now work towards their upcoming rally day on September 16 before they wrap up for the year in November.
