Yangan student wins QCWA award

YANGAN State School's Andrew Hughes took out second place at the QCWA awards on Tuesday night at Charters Towers.

Andrew achieved the statewide award for his outstanding results with a computerised booklet about East Timor.

"The school does it every year and it's about our research and history and geography and what the flag means," Andrew said.

The award was presented in front of a crowd, which Andrew found a little nerve-wracking.

"It was a little bit embarrassing," he said.

Andrew will spend his last day as a primary school student today, and will be attending Assumption College next year.
