Windy conditions blamed for single-vehicle crash

UPDATE:

IT WOULD have been quite a sight for motorists travelling on the Peak Downs Highway near Racecourse.

A ute towing a trailer which held a fibreglass pool was flipped after being caught by a strong gust of wind.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at the highway's intersection with Te Kowai-Foulden Rd just before 1pm yesterday.

Police, firefighters and paramedics attended.

The highway was closed briefly as cranes removed the pool to a nearby cane paddock and turned the car upright.

No one was injured.

YESTERDAY 1pm:

EMERGENCY services are on scene at a single-vehicle crash.

The crash occurred on the Peak Downs Hwy and Te Kowai Foulden Rd at Racecourse about 1pm.

Police say the intersection is closed and is asking people to take an alternative route.

More details to come.
