Will and Steve beat Ash and Camilla to MKR grand final berth

THE Poms handled the semi-final pressure better than My Kitchen Rules' posh ladies tonight.

Will and Steve are through to the reality cooking show's grand final after beating Melbourne's Ash and Camilla in a three-course cook-off.

The semi-finalists started strong, but it was the little details like the thickness of their artichoke puree which let down Ash and Camilla.

"They've really respected the bugs," judge Liz Egan said.

The judges couldn't fault Will and Steve's smoked trout entrée, despite Will's dramas with the fish catching fire during the smoking process.

"It is a strong start; it is a refreshing dish and it's pleasing to the eye," Colin Fassnidge said.

Both teams struggled to plate up their dishes, rushing to get all of their elements on the plate.

The usually detail-oriented Steve slopped jus on his carefully seared steaks.

"Even though it was a good dish I was expecting a lot more from this team," Manu Feildel said.

"The jus has disappeared in all of this… I couldn't really taste it."

Gnocchi queen Ash was forced to make a second batch of the pasta with ricotta, and her rushed effort let down their perfectly cooked veal.

"Unfortunately there's too much flour in that gnocchi," Egan said.

Will and Steve's decision to leave a grainy meringue off their dessert gave them a fighting chance against Ash and Camilla's deconstructed rocky road.

"I think coming off the back of their main course, which was huge, this is simple and pared back," Fassnidge said.

"I'm loving the tartness of the blackberries with the elderflowers," Karen Martini said.

While the flavours of the deconstructed rocky road "gelled", it was too much of a good thing for Guy Grossi.

"Flavour wise it works really well… but I'm finding it hard to get past the use of gelatine in this dessert," Grossi said.

Will and Steve's well-executed menu earned them straight eights, four points more than Ash and Camilla.

"It is upsetting but at the end of the day I can't believe we came this far and congrats," Ash said.

Queenslanders Jac and Shaz will face off against Eva and Debra on Sunday night.
