Wheatvale wins close match

WAYNE Fearby dismissed three of the top five as Inglewood scored a 10-wicket victory against RSL Diggers at Inglewood on Saturday.

Batting first, Diggers was in trouble from the start after Troy Callaghan trapped representative opener Jeff Morris LBW for six.

The run-out of Gavan Scheiwe didn't help the visitors before Fearby chimed in to take 3-10 off eight overs.

R. Reilly took 3-13 off six overs and Nick Campbell 2-9 off six overs as Diggers was dismissed for 49.

Inglewood had no problem scoring the winning runs in only six overs, B. Bennett hitting seven fours and two sixes in an unbeaten 49.

Wheatvale scored 8-96 to beat the Sovereign Animals score of 95.

Batting first, Animals opener Brad Johnson scored 34 and Dave Watson 23.

Five Wheatvale bowlers, Paul and Craig Cantwell, Jack and James Breen and Nathan Bell each took two wickets.

Craig Cantwell hit 25 and Nathan Bell 20 in the push for a Wheatvale victory.

Wheatvale captain Craig Cantwell said the game was the closest for his side for the season.

"We won with our last pair, Nathan Bell and James Breen, at the wicket," he said.
