TROUBLEMAKERS beware, if you misbehave you will be watched.
It was recently announced the Southern Downs Regional Council will receive funding from the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program to install 13 security cameras in Stanthorpe's CBD.
After advocating for the security cameras for several years Stanthorpe Safety Advisory Committee chair David Entermann said he was excited by the announcement of the cameras, which will be monitored by Stanthorpe police.
"The model we envisage has been implemented successfully in Toogoolawah and Esk," he said.
"I think it is exciting because an idea conceived by the community has come into fruition."
Stanthorpe Police Senior Sergeant Mark Ireland was also extremely impressed by the announcement and said installation of the cameras was long overdue.
"This technology will assist police with their duties around town and help with solving crimes," he said.
