Wattles Juniors wrap up season

THE Wattles Junior Rugby League Club held its final committee meeting for 2011 at the Railway Hotel, Allora, on Tuesday night.

Linda Sharman was welcomed as newly-appointed secretary for the upcoming season.

Linda has a long association with the club with her son Brodie playing for Wattles.

She replaces Angela Van Der Poel who did a tremendous job while in that position.

The club has finalised its coaching roster for the 2012 season with Kent Meacle again committing to the under 7 age group, while both Aaron Scheid and Wayne Lyons will take charge of the under 9s.

Wattles Juniors would like to remind all players and children who are considering playing rugby league to attend the annual meet and greet at the Leyburn Hotel on Saturday January 7, 2012.

It is a great evening out where you get the chance to catch up with old friends, play a game of touch footy on the pub lawns and, for the newcomers, meet coaches and parents.

Plus you can enjoy some of the best pub food available on the Darling Downs.

As per previous years our combined under 7/8 teams will be given the opportunity to play a demonstration game at the Clifton Show held on the weekend of February 17 to19.

This game is a lot of fun for the kids and the large crowd that never fails to make an appearance at the show.

The sign-on for 2012 will be held on Saturday, February 25, at Platz Oval Clifton from 4pm.

Cost is $70 for the first child and $65 for each child after.

A birth certificate must be brought along when signing on.

Wattles would like to encourage six, seven and eight-year-olds as well as any girls aged 12 or under to sign on and wear the green and gold.

Wattles Juniors thanks all its valued sponsors and supporters during the year and wishes everyone an enjoyable and safe Christmas and New Year.
