Water donated for drought needed to fight fire

WATER and water tankers donated to Granite Belt Drought Assist are being used for firefighting purposes at Cunninghams Gap and Pechey.
Granite Belt Drought Assist co-manager Glenda Riley said she and the volunteers were doing their best to get additional tankers in a time of extremely high demand.
"Well, it will have an effect but it's only a short-term effect," she said.
"We are currently trying to secure water from other locations."
Granite Belt Drought Assist is trying to get as much water to people as they can, with deliveries of 1000-litre containers of water continuing as normal for those who have no water at all.
