Warwick teams unbeaten
WARWICK 2 and Warwick 4 teams are unbeaten after the first round of the Darling Downs Inter-district Netball competition at Barnes Park yesterday.
The host association, Warwick, fielded nine teams as 12 associations nominated 50 teams for the carnival.
In the open grade, Warwick 1 recorded three wins and one loss.
Jessica O'Brien is captain and organiser of a new-look team.
Bec Burville played her first inter-district game for Warwick and was sensational at goal shooter.
Warwick 1 had a team of nine which allowed O'Brien to effectively use substitutes. She even rested herself from her regular defensive spot in the 20-18 victory against Laidley.
Warwick 2 is the 16 years representative team under coach Amelia Sutton and Warwick 4 is the 14 years team under Helena Fraser.
Both teams go into round 2 at Dalby next month with unbeaten records.
Warwick Netball Association secretary Linda Bunch said visiting players were delighted with the two new flexi-pave courts laid in the past fortnight.
"Players commented on how much cooler the flexi-pave was than the bitumen courts they replaced," Bunch said.
"There was a lot of praise for the association for providing marquees which were kindly loaned to us by Warwick business houses."
