Swimmers back in action

WARWICK swimmers returned to competition after the Christmas break to win one age championship and two runners-up awards at the Darling Downs Country Championships at Stanthorpe on Saturday.

The carnival was won by the Goondiwindi team.

Warwick Swimming Club president Ross Brackin said many of the 12 club members who competed recorded placings.

"There was a great battle for the 10 years age championship between Warwick swimmer Seamus Ryan and Allora's Brendan Hoffman," Ross said.

"It came down to the last race before Brendan won the age championship."

Dimity Brackin won the 13 years age championship for the Warwick club and Caitlin Skaines was a runner up in the nine years age group.

Club nights for Warwick are each Friday from 6pm at WIRAC with prospective new members welcome.

"Swimmers can come along to club nights and then book in for squad swimming at WIRAC under Karen Gilchrist if they wish," Ross said.

Champion masters swimmer and former club champion Wayne Schnitzerling is volunteering his time to assist the squad which Ross said was valuable to the club.
