Warwick athletes impress

SEVEN members of Warwick Little Athletics Centre won multiple medals at the Darling Downs Regional Championships at the weekend in Toowoomba.

Jack Bannister won the shot-put, high jump, javelin and discus, setting a record in the under-14 age group.

In the under-11, Thomas Mouws won the long jump, 60m hurdles and 100m.

Jacob Lawrence broke records in the under-17, 400m and 800m, while Bryana McGowan won under-10 discus and shot-put.

Talitha Doro took the under-14 800m and high jump, with Jesse Simon winning the under-13 800m and 1500m. Elizabeth Brown won the under-15 1500m walk in a record and the discus.

Allira Charles won the under-14 100m, Anthony Bannister the under-17 shot put and Jayden Webb the U14 1500m.

Centre manager Paul Bannister said Warwick athletes won a total of 48 medals.

"We won more medals than I expected," Bannister said.

"All the kids were recording PBs in the field, the track was a bit soft so there weren't many PBs."
