Warrington soars home
HE’S Some Eagle was ridden to victory in the Pacific Seeds/Pursehouse Rural Clifton Cup by Toowoomba jockey Jason Warrington on Saturday.
The win gave Warrington a winning double as he also won the first race, the 1580 metre Maiden Plate, on Chadwick.
He’s Some Eagle is trained by Dick Lowe, of Oakey.
Second place in the cup went to the Sel Andrews-trained Stefenick, which was ridden by Ben Cornell.
Ruling Party was third. John Thomas, of Toowoomba, was the trainer and the jockey Noriyuki Nishio.
Clifton Jockey Club secretary Margaret Cross said the day was marvellous.
“We had a capacity crowd of more than 900, which was up on last year,” Cross said.
“It turned out a fantastic day and we hope it will be bigger and better next year. It was my first year as secretary.
“The track started as a slow three and was downgraded to a dead four after the second race.”
