Western Sydney winger Romeo Castelen will receive a hero's welcome when he runs out in front of the fanatical red-and-black bloc against Newcastle at Parramatta Stadium tonight.

Criticised at times this season for his inability to finish off his moves, the Dutchman was outstanding in the 2-0 win against Melbourne Victory two weeks ago, finishing with a goal and an assist in 84 minutes of torment against Daniel Giorgievski.

Castelen wasn't buying into suggestions he was the new cult hero at Wanderland, telling reporters he was just one player in a team that was determined to win every game.

"We have this mentality that every game we want to win," he said. "We have this confidence, but we have to be prepared.''

Castelen also said the team needed to be ready to go from the opening whistle against the Jets, unlike last week's 2-2 draw against the Glory in Perth that ended a seven-match winning streak.

"We have to start better," he said. "Perth was a game we didn't start well, but we showed good character to come back twice."

Castelen could find himself marking former Wanderers defender Daniel Mullen, who has been named in an 18-man Newcastle squad after recovering from a knee injury that has sidelined him for almost two months.

The Jets, coming off a 0-0 draw with Adelaide at home last weekend, haven't won since downing Melbourne City 3-2 back in October. The team's big problem has been finding the net, scoring just one goal in its past six games.
