Wall wins top award

CHRIS Wall has won the most prestigious award at the Warwick Little Athletics Centre for the 2011-2012 season.

He won the Roy Waltisbuhl Memorial Award for most improvement in throws, 29m.

Reuben Sullivan and Libby Brown won encouragement awards for performance, willingness to assist others, sportsmanship, respectfulness and politeness to all.

The Karen Walters Encouragement award was won by Lily Hughes who kept coming back after breaking both arms.

Today is the start of the three-day IGA State Championships at the Warwick Little Athletics Centre. Seventeen Warwick athletes have qualified.

Paul Bannister has been re-elected as centre manager for next season. Mark McGowan is his assistant, Danielle Richmond secretary and Molly Haywood treasurer in a committee of 16.
