Wagners offer help as GBWR rack up staggering donation milestone
TOOWOOMBA’S Wagner family are the latest to show their support for the Granite Belt after donating to the drought cause.
Yesterday, the Wagners company made sure that 12,000 litres of stock water and 12 water pods were delivered to Granite Belt Water Relief.
The Labor Party’s Joel Richters connected with the business to help ensure the donation came to fruition.
“I have had the opportunity to listen to the plight of these affected families,” Mr Richters said.
“They are doing it really tough and I was not going to rest until I knew that there was help on its way.
“Sometimes it is as easy as asking for support. Most times people are only too happy to help if they know they have something to offer.”
Granite Belt Water Relief was instigated by Russell and Samantha Wantling.
Since forming, they’ve managed to deliver more than 1.5million litres to families in need.
“You only need to speak to Russell and see the expression of desperation on his face to understand how hard this drought is effecting the region,” Mr Richters said.
“You can see in his eyes the anguish at knowing the extent of the impact this drought is having.
“This donation will be a relief to not only him, but hundreds of families on the Granite Belt until the next big rains.”
