Under 8s park fun
THE cloudy weather wasn't enough to deter parents, carers and children as they all enjoyed the annual Under 8s Day celebrations.
Held at Weeroona Park on Wednesday, September 14, the day was filled with music, craft, fun activities and learning for the children.
Emergency services also made a an appearance, teaching the children what they do and showing them their vehicles.
Under 8s Day committee member and Wallangarra State School teacher Rachael Walker said it was a great day for everyone involved.
"It feels like the community has come together,” Mrs Walker said.
"It's got a great feeling about it and everyone's enjoying themselves.”
Schools and organisations from the Granite Belt were all involved by bringing their own activities.
"Each school has two activities,” she said.
The students all had a great time partaking in the numerous different activities, including Wallangarra State School Prep student Tyler Purcell.
"I'm enjoying the face painting,” he said.
It was not just youngsters enjoying the day, with 40 high school volunteers helping out as well.
"They're promoting themselves for leadership,” Mrs Walker said.
Over the past two years, Under 8s Day has grown and Mrs Walker said they hope the day will continue to grow.
"We'll keep inviting more people along,” she said.
