Two left fighting for their lives after Cap Hwy crash

TWO people were fighting for their lives after a serious traffic crash on the Capricorn Highway west of Emerald this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the two vehicle crash in The Gemfields at 1.45pm.

It is understood at least one of the vehicles flipped.

A total of five people were involved, with three people able to free themselves from the wreckage.

Two men and one woman were taken to Emerald Hospital in a stable condition.

The other two people, a man and a woman, were trapped in the vehicles and had to be rescued by firefighters.

Queensland Ambulance said they have been taken to Emerald Hospital in a critical condition.
