Stanthorpe v Goondiwindi

THE two strongest teams in the competition went head-to-head.

It was Stanthorpe who started best and was making good ground through the middle of the field, some early pressure and within the first two minutes saw Brooke O'Brien score out wide to set up first points and take an early lead 4-nil.

All season these two teams have had tight games, they have fought out the Presidents Cup and this was building to be another great finish. With the Gremlins on the attack 10 out from their tryline in good field position, looking sharp, the unthinkable happened.

An intercept, Goondiwindi with speed to burn, ran the length of the field to score, levelling it up 4-4.

This would come down to who wanted it more, both sides defence were outstanding. Goondiwindi on the attack, two strong breaks were made, the Gremlins had to lift, hitting back with try-saving tackles that in the end changed the game.
