Tussle for top spot
WHEATVALE and Maryvale-Condamine head into the Christmas break joint leaders on 22 points after both teams recorded wins in Warwick Cricket at the weekend.
Wheatvale were comprehensive winners over RSL Diggers at Wheatvale on Saturday picking up double points in the clash.
RSL Diggers were dismissed for 76 runs thanks largely to an extraordinary bowling spell from Paul Cantwell.
Cantwell took 5-0 in two overs which included four wickets in one over with his outswingers.
A score of 62 by Jordan Siebenhausen set up a two-wicket win by Maryvale-Condamine against Warwick Hotel Colts at Slade Park on Saturday.
Batting first the Colts side took 8-138 off their 40 overs.
Shaun O'Leary was the best of the Colts batsman with 31 runs and received good support from Brendan Iles with 22 runs.
For Maryvale, opening bowler Andrew Ryan took 2-9 off eight overs. First-change bowler Paul Bourke also bowled accurately to take 2-24 off his eight overs.
Jason Steketee took a classic one-handed catch at cover.
In reply Steketee scored 24 runs to provide good support for Siebenhausen.
Colts bowlers Maugan Benn with 2-17 off eight overs and Cameron Peterson 2-27 off eight overs had Maryvale in early trouble at 4-37 before some late partnerships got Maryvale home with a win.
In representative cricket the Warwick Davis Shield side won by nine wickets against Toowoomba West at Captain Cook Oval yesterday with Dave Walker picking up five wickets.
Jamie Saunders and Jeff Morris added 136 runs to secure the win.
