Truck rollover causes Gap closure

MOTORISTS were yesterday diverted away from Cunningham’s Gap after an incident forced the highway closed yet again.

The busy area was cordoned off after a truck rolled about noon yesterday.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the driver of the truck was out of the vehicle on their arrival and heavy haulage equipment was used to bring the truck back on the road.

This incident follows a series of closures at The Gap, which began last Sunday when seven mudslides meant traffic was diverted through Toowoomba.

The Gap will have stop/go conditions from 8am to 5pm until December 13. From December 14 to 20 the highway will be closed from 8am to 5pm.

Two-vehicle crash causes injuries

TWO cars collided at the Warwick-Allora Road about 4.30pm yesterday with a woman transported to Warwick Hospital with cuts to her head.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the woman was transported and two others were treated at the scene.

The shaken driver of the second car, Arthur Riley, was uninjured and said he was building a house at the corner of Rosehill and Evans roads near the notorious S-bend.

“It’s a dangerous spot ... I’m pleased everyone was okay as there was a woman and children in the other car,” Mr Riley said.

Police are investigating.
