RUGBY LEAGUE: The TRL is in the midst of what could be a telling rankings rumble.

The top four teams in the Hutchinson Builders TRL Premiership will go head-to-head this weekend and they are not the only massive games on during this exciting period of the regular season.

Valleys announced themselves as genuine title contenders with a strong win over previously unbeaten Pittsworth last Sunday on the Danes' home turf.

Early front-runners Dalby also host Valleys next weekend as the big games roll on.

But first Dalby, Valleys, Pittsworth and Highfields have massive games this weekend.

Pittsworth will be out to bounce back when the Danes head to Dalby to take on the Diehards on Sunday.

This will be the clash between the visiting defending premiers and the contenders Dalby at home.

Valleys also have a massive match-up against Highfields at Herb Steinohrt Oval on Sunday.

A divide in the TRL is developing as Dalby and Valleys top the ladder undefeated while Pittsworth and Highfields are one win behind.

It is then two more wins back to fifth-placed Gatton, so the top four teams are certainly leading the way.

Highfields has been building after a loss to Gatton in round four and Eagles coach Justin McKellar knows how important their game against Valleys is.

"It's not quite a top-of-the-table clash but it's top four,” he said.

"The next month we all play each other so we're definitely need to win some of those games so we're in a good position.”

McKellar was a keen observer at Valleys' win over Pittsworth last Sunday.

"I thought they were really good,” he said. "They were sharp and they had good ball movement. Their defence was good.”

The Highfields defence has also been good of late having conceded just 16 points in three matches to help the Eagles to the second-best defensive record this season.

"We're taking steps to improve but this week is another big step up,” McKellar said.
