THIS Saturday Stanthorpe State High School P&C will host their Giant Market.

The fundraiser is an innovative, educational and community event that combines the best elements of country education.

Tourism teacher Jo Rogers said senior tourism students have planned a family friendly morning that will be fun and entertaining.

"Students wanted to ensure that the Giant Market would support families so they have designed a Kidzone so children can be entertained while parents hunt for bargains in the Trash and Treasure, Book Fair and multiple Garage Sale stalls,” she said.

The Giant Market is a whole school affair.

Tourism students will manage the event under the guidance of the P&C.

The hospitality students will provide food and goodies at the canteen and coffee cart, and volunteers from all year levels will help with stalls.

"It's a win-win situation,” event manager and teacher Ann Richardson said.

"You can clean out your shed and either book a stall and we do all the promotion and planning, or donate your items to the school and we can include them in our trash and treasure section.”

Funds raised will go towards the eagerly anticipated canteen and quadrangle upgrade.

"The Giant Market provides a wonderful opportunity for our tourism students to practise real life events management skills in a challenging yet supportive environment,” Mrs Richardson said.

"Students have the unique opportunity to develop community links outside the classroom.

"This is a real event where they work with real customers to gain real world skills.

"As the event draws closer students are learning to prioritise and manage multiple demands on their time in a supported, structure environment.”

With so many stalls running, there will without a doubt be something for everyone.

The markets will run from 7am on the school campus.

Bookings are still being taken for stall sites.

To book your space call Vicki Cavanagh on 0437896691.

Alternatively, any items for donation can be dropped at the school's main office on McGlew Street.

Be sure to head along to support the students and the P & C in their fundraiser, you may pick up something great.
