Time runs out for disaster relief funding

TIME is running out to apply for disaster assistance grants.

Primary producers, small businesses and non-profit organisations affected by the flooding in January this year may be eligible for a slice of the recovery grants available to get back on your feet.

The Queensland Rural Adjustment Authority is asking for applications no later than August 30.

People whose claims exceed the initial $5000, will need to complete the subsequent claim form ensuring that all relevant questions have been completed and provide evidence of payment and support documentation.

If applicants' cash flow situations prevent them from claiming the subsequent $20,000 for works arising from damage, they can submit a financial hardship certificate that is required to be filled out by their accountant or bank manager.

Primary producers and business operators who have suffered extreme flood damage may be eligible for a loan or grant package of up to $650,000.

See http://www.qraa.qld.gov.au for details on how apply, or phone 1800 623 946.
