Thunder women get taste of victory

TENTERFIELD V CARLTON: The home side's Junior Colts continued their fine form against Carlton on Saturday. In an even contest, both sides had to be content with a 1-1 result.

The game was a little more one-sided in the Senior Colts, with Carlton comfortably winning.

The Tenterfield ladies found form on Saturday after a physical tussle.

Not many opportunities occurred in the first half as the majority of play was in the centre of the field. Amy Haynes narrowly missed a free kick outside the 18-yard box just before half-time.

After stringing some better passes together and playing up the flanks, the Tenterfield ladies finally found the net on the hour mark due to a breakaway goal by Alana Condrick.

The Tenterfield men's team has struggled over the last four weeks to field a full-strength side due to injury or players being away.

The nine players who played at the weekend put in a valiant effort and denied the Carlton side from scoring in the first 25 minutes. The overflow in the midfield finally took its toll on the Thunder side and Carlton was able to split the defence. The final score was 8-0 in Carlton's favour.

More players are welcome to join the team. Training is on Wednesdays, 6-7.30pm.
