Junior basketball: What a great night of junior basketball on Friday night.

Well done to the team selectors as most games finished with close scorelines.

Great to see the coaches on the sideline encouraging their players - a real buzz in the centre on Friday night.

Juniors

Game one

THE first game of the night was a thriller as the Brian and Mel Westerhout coached Saints hit the lead for the first time with only a minute on the clock to sneak their first win of the season.

No doubt Panthers Coach Landon Gempton would have observed the match closely and have his team prepared for the rematch.

For Saints Luke Pidgeon and Grace Handyside were standouts while Kelly Swinburne played strongly for Panthers.

Saints 14 Panthers 13

Game two

TRENT Daveson and Hannah McMeniman lead Rockets to a 4 point win over Crocodiles. Jordan Waterworth was outstanding for Crocodiles scoring 18 of their 22 points but it was not enough as Rockets held their nerve to win 26 -22

Game three

A STRONG performance from Devils saw them defeat Hurricanes 32-14.

Harry Whitaker tried hard for Hurricanes but Luke Muir and his team mates proved too strong.

Maxis

Game four

HURRICANES were much too strong for Panthers winning 50 - 29. Ben Armbruster and Dan McMeniman led the charge scoring the majority of points while Landon Gempton led Panthers scoring with 12 points his was.well supported by Tristan Smith.

Game Five

HARRY Williams scored an incredible 29 points to help crocodiles to a narrow one point win over Rockets.

Kirby Morunga supported Williams well however in contrast Rockets boasted 5 different scorers in the match - another one point game to close the night. Crocodiles 35 Rockets 34.

Thanks to all the referees, coaches and scorers (Bench people Jenny). Remember training sessions are Monday and Wednesday nights. Players please ensure you are here 10 minutes before the advertised starting time of your game to help coaches organise your team.
