The official ending for Apple and Grape this weekend

THE Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Harvest Festival Committee is looking forward to this weekend as it closes down the 2018 festival season with a fireworks spectacular.

Festival president Greg Thouard said the weekend would be busy for the committee as it winds down from the highly successful festival.

"There has been enormous feedback about how enjoyable the festival was and lots of great feedback and ideas for the next committee,” Mr Thouard said.

A fireworks spectacular will be held on Friday April 20 in the creek park lands adjacent to the Tourist office, which were rescheduled following cancellation due to heavy rain during the festival.

The countdown starts at 7.30pm. Plenty of vantage points are available along the creek park lands. An exclusion zone around the fireworks trailer will be in place and festival volunteers will guide spectators.

There is no other entertainment planned for the evening.

"It's a great way to finish the festival,” Mr Thouard said.

"We appreciate the support of Rossow Bulk Haulage and Skylighter Fireworx for rescheduling this event.”

Spectators can have an evening out of their choosing then enjoy this night-sky show.

"Rain or fine, the fireworks will be let off,” said Mr Thouard.

The carnival lights will be removed from the main streets on Sunday morning 22 April and road closures will be in place from 6am. The lights have been replaced over the last two festivals by changing older style with energy efficient LED lights.

The festival committee is appreciative of support from the Gambling Commission Benefit Fund for its support of $50,000 for this lighting program. The valuable assistance provided by sponsors and volunteers will be recognised at a function on Sunday evening.

The festival is not possible without the magnificent support of sponsors and volunteers and we say goodbye to Festival 2018 with this function. Attendees will need to RSVP to info@applelndgrape.org.
