Telstra streaming service to launch in September
TELSTRA is making a play for a slice of the country's emerging streaming video on demand market.
The Telco will launch its new Telstra TV streaming service in September.
Telstra has partnered with streaming service provider Roku to offer customers a bundle of Presto, Stan and Netflix, the three SVOD services currently competing in the fragmented streaming market.
"Rather than restrict our customers' choices, we want to host all the popular streaming video services on our platforms and make it easy for them to get all the content they want in the one place," said Joe Pollard, Telstra's General Managing Director of Media and Marketing.
Ms Pollard said the price of the service will be announced closer to its launch date.
In other SVOD news, Stan has announced its partnership with Screen Queensland to offer $1 million in funding for a feature film.
It marks the first time an Australian screen agency will finance a feature film to premiere exclusively on a streaming service and follows Screen Queensland's development and funding of its first online TV series No Activity.
