Teachers union likes High plan
LOCAL members of the Queensland Teachers Union were pleased to hear of the draft plan for Warwick State High School (WSHS), and will provide feedback in the coming months.
QTU south Queensland organiser Zeb Sugden said the draft would see the high school into the future.
"We want an environment the school can continue to provide excellent education in. There have been issues of over-crowding at the school, largely due to increased enrolments. This is the first step to solving those problems," he said.
He said the union would continue to be actively involved in the consultation period and invited the community to do the same.
"The consultation phase is excellent - parents and teachers can have their say."
When asked what he thought of the financial gap between the draft and its eventual delivery, Mr Sugden was pragmatic.
"It's the continual pressure state schools have when it comes to facilities," he said.
"We'll continue to put pressure (on the state government) so teachers and students have the quality classrooms and facilities.
"We're certainly pleased funding has been approved for the multi-level building for Year 7 and the science lab."
