Take precautions when driving

WHEN driving a car, there are a number of safety precautions motorists need to take - and it's not just the general perks of road safety.

Crime-prevention officer Constable Wendy Tamblyn said keeping a phone in the car was a good idea in case of an emergency.

"Keep a communication device in the vehicle, such as a mobile phone or emergency radio, so you can contact help immediately," Const Tamblyn said.

She said installing a Queensland Police identification code in your vehicle was also a good way for police to identify it as your property.

Contact your local police to find out more about QPS identification codes.
