SYDNEY is back in town and on track for a qualifying final against Fremantle in Perth in week one of the finals after demolishing St Kilda by 97 points at Etihad Stadium 20.15 (135) to 4.14 (38).
The Swans will finish fourth provided they beat the Gold Coast at home next weekend, while West Coast's loss to Adelaide assured Freo top spot on the table.
Hawthorn will finish third with a win over Carlton, while the Eagles can hold on to second with a victory against the Saints in Perth.
The main concern for the Swans was a hamstring injury to defender Nick Smith, although star forward Lance Franklin was substituted out in the third quarter, perhaps as a precaution with the game already won.
Franklin had seven disposals, took three marks and kicked one goal in his return from a back complaint.
Sydney's win was set up by a dominant midfield, led by Josh Kennedy (pictured) with 33 disposals and nine clearances and Dan Hannebery (39 disposals).
FREMANTLE last night clinched its first-ever minor premiership by claiming a 17th win, this time over Melbourne by 54 points in Perth.
