Suspected drunk driver puts pedestrian in hospital

A MAN has been arrested for suspected drunk driving after his car hit a pedestrian, injuring his leg, in Ballandean this afternoon.

The driver hit a man, aged around 25 years, causing injuries to his left leg on the corner of Eukey Road and New England Highway around 1.20pm.

The pedestrian was taken to Stanthorpe hospital in a stable condition.

A Queensland Police Media spokesman said the driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving.

He was taken to Stanthorpe police station for further breath alcohol analysis and then to the hospital for drug tests.

No other details about the driver are available.

Charges are expected to be laid.
