Students honour the Anzac spirit

ANZAC Day has been a significant occasion for the Ballandean school community for several years.

On Tuesday we held our school service, which was attended by a number of special guests.

These people included local councillors, our assistant regional director, returned servicemen and parents.

Our school leaders took the service, with our school choir singing and leading our anthems.

Our school students are also involved in running the Ballandean community Anzac Day service held at the Ballandean Pyramid each year.

Rain did not dampen the spirits of the 150-plus people who attended the service.

Thank you to the Ballandean Hall Committee who organised the bar and barbecue afterwards.

All proceeds from this event go to support the organisation Soldiers On.

Edible garden

AFTER planting our edible garden in February and watching our plants grow, we have picked our first lot of produce.

Last week we made zucchini fritters and muffins, and wombok and green salad, which we all tried.

We even shared some with our parents as they picked their children up after school!
