Students fundraise by hurling water bombs at teachers

YARRAMAN State School parents and carers association held a colour run, but this time with a new twist where students took aim at their favourite teachers.

The school's administration officer/rehabilitation return to work co-ordinator, Karen Spence, said she wanted to give a big congratulations to all of those involved.

"Congratulations to our P and C and Mrs Clapperton for running a very successful colour run," she said.

"The afternoon was full of excitement with students running multiple laps of the challenge course while being sprayed with water and covered in an array of various coloured powders. "The student council along with Chappy Tammy Nunn extended the fun by hosting our first ever water bomb the teachers event.

"Teachers stood exposed, while students hurled water bombs for $1 a throw."

Ms Spence said over $250 was made for the Yarraman State School student council.

The event was on Friday November 8 and over $3000 was also raised by students who participated in the colour fun run.

Tammy Nunn, the School Chaplain, said the event was a huge success.

"It was the first time we've had it run like this," she said.

"Most of the students participated and it was really good fun for everyone involved.

"I was in charge of water bombing the teachers. We had them stand up against the wall and the kids threw water bombs at them.

"They all just love it."

Ms Nunn said the funds raised by for the P and C would go towards the end of the year students rewards day.

"It's always a fun day," she said.

"We get a big inflatable park that comes to the school. There's obstacle courses and water slides, and even a big blow up boxing ring.

"The student council will spend their money on new camping gear for the school. To save them funds on future school trips."
