Stolen vehicle torched

FIREFIGHTERS were called to the scene of a car on fire on Freestone Rd between East and Meneely Sts on Saturday night.

A Queensland Fire Service spokeswoman said the 1998 gold Holden Calais was fully engulfed when two crews arrived at the scene about 11.30pm but nobody was in the vehicle.

"They put it out and used the thermal imaging camera," she said.

"They had to wear breathing apparatus."

Warwick police Senior Constable Shane Montgomery said further inquiries by police revealed the car had been reported stolen from Ogilvie Rd between 9.30pm and 11.30pm.

"We are now making inquiries to find the persons responsible," he said.
