State teams feature Downs players
THE Lawrence siblings, Jess and Jacob, are in the Queensland junior mixed polocrosse team to play in the Barastoc Interstate Series at Morgan Park on April 9-11.
The annual series between teams from the eastern states will be held two weeks after the national championships at Ballarat.
Many players from the national championship teams will again line up in the maroon of Queensland at the Barastoc Interstate Series.
There are 19 players from Southern Downs clubs in the Queensland teams for Morgan Park.
The open mens team will be captained by Michael Dillon, of Wandoan and includes two Warwick players, Stuart Shepherd and Russell Owens. Warwick player Paul McGrath is coach.
Four Southern Downs players are in the state womens team – captain Stephanie Thorsby, Trish Barlow and Katie Jolly from the Warwick club and Melissa Kerr who plays for Cunningham.
Colten Preston, Katie Barr and captain Jess Osborne (Warwick) and Brad Hall (Clifton) are in the state intermediate team while Bill Kerr (Cunningham) and John Cooper (Warwick) are in the open masters team.
Cunningham player Sarah Gilbert is captain of the junior mixed team which also includes her team-mate Carly Cooper and three Warwick players, the Lawrence siblings, and Tom Cobon. Jamie Lamb is coach.
The Australian Junior Championships at Albury on April 24-25 are a separate competition to the nationals championships at Ballarat on March 22-28.

Clifton player Jake Young is the sole Southern Downs representative in the state junior team for Albury.
Captain Anthony O’Leary (Cunningham) and Anthony Wells (Warwick) are in the Queensland sub-junior team. Kent Wells is junior coach for Albury and his wife Libby manager.
The Queensland intermediate team for the Muswellbrook Show on March 19-20 includes Clifton player Chris Hall and Nick Perkins, of the Warwick club. Lachlan Osborne (Warwick) is reserve.
