State High floating from grape to glass

A COLLABORATIVE venture between the State High School and the Queensland College of Wine Tourism has led to this years float which ties into the Apple and Grape festival theme "Food and wine - it's Divine.".    The women behind the float, Kim Lochner and Alex Werner, said the idea demonstrated the two organisations had "a recipe for success".   Ms Werner said QCWT donated many of the props including a grape press and a bucket for grape crushing.    "We're going to have some students in a bunch of grape costumes and lots of vines and bunches of grapes all over the truck," Ms Werner said. Ms Lochner said a large cross-section of students from different departments were involved.   "We've had construction students working on the sign and painting," she said.   "We've had art students who'll be doing the design, some art students working on some of the large features.    "On the day we'll have tourism students, dance students who will be performing, the school captains, all of the school clubs being represented."   "It's nice to have that community spirit and showcase what we do here."
