Stanthorpe kids ready to start learning
IT'S ALL smiles from Oliver Fraguas, Matthew Stefanon, Oliver Haysom and Alanna Fox as they prepare to step into a classroom for the first time this week.
The four St Joseph's Prep students are excited to learn letters and numbers, but are mostly excited about play time. Most students return to school today.
ENTERING the prep classroom for the first time this week are a future baker, a future archaeologist, a future boxer and a future policeman.
Alanna Fox, Oliver Haysom, Oliver Fraguas and Matthew Stefanon are so excited to start their education, they can barely sit still.
"I want to go on the playground all day,” said Matthew when asked what he was most excited about.
For Alanna, she's a bit more nervous about starting school. She will be sad to be away from her mum but is keen to make new friends.
The feeling is mutual for her mother Fiona Fox who will be sending her child off to school for the first time.
"(I'm feeling) a little bit sad, we're going to be bored at home,” she said.
"There possibly will be tears.”
Oliver Haysom's mother Courtenay will also be walking a child through the school gates for the first time when prep commences on Wednesday.
"We're just excited for Oliver to make lots of friends and do lots of fun things,” she said.
Oliver Fraguas's mum Emma and Matthew Stefanon's mother Ruth are a little more prepared after watching other children start school.
"It's not as daunting,” Mrs Stefanon said.
All four children agreed going to school was going to make their brains much bigger and insisted they would all be the smartest.
