Speeding driver gives police a different kind of 'wild ride'

CRIKEY mate, talk about a 'wild ride.'

Deception Bay police got more than they bargained for when they pulled over a speeding car overnight.

Instead of the usual, the road policing unit found themselves face to face with crocodiles and snakes.

The stuff of nightmares for many, the officers had to deal with two active foot and a half long saltwater crocs in a bucket, two snakes, a coastal python and a large black-headed python.

The snakes were hidden in a bag.

Two men from New South Wales, a 23-year-old and 21-year-old, were charged with two counts of taking a protected animal and keeping a protected animal.

The older man was also charged with stealing.

The police called on Australia Zoo staff to help them out with identifying the reptiles and putting them up in accommodation until they had a home.

The pair will appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on March 23.
