Spartans take sports award

A TEAM of athletes has taken home this year's Sport Award.

Brass Monkey Spartan Team, featuring captain Adrian Jannenga, Scott Beesley and Amanda Gempton, was submitted

to the new Channel 7 television show Australian Spartan Team Challenge.

Adrian also competed at the Asia Pacific Spartan Challenge and finished fourth, qualifying for the World Championships.

Scott was impressed the team got the award.

"We're pretty excited,” he said.

"We weren't expecting it - it was a surprise when we found out.

"I didn't even know

they had these awards so that was pretty cool to get one.”

Adrian agreed.

He was very happy with the team's achievement.

Amanda said she hoped they would be an inspiration to other athletes.

"We just want to inspire other people to follow their dreams and it's really cool that we got this award,” she said.

Scott thanked everyone who came and watched the team on the show.

"It was a long night so hopefully they had a bit of fun in there,” he said.

Amanda thanked

their families for their support.
