Souths too much for Wanderers
CRICKET: It was tipped to be a tight game, but wound up as anything but for Wanderers and Souths on Saturday.
Wanderers haven't quite been performing at the top of their game in recent weeks.
Wanderers captain Jamie Carnell said he was disappointed with Wanderers' "terrible” effort.
"We got bowled out at 60,” he said.
He said it was a shame to see the team fare so badly on the field, but Wanderers batted first and struggled to secure their 66 runs.
Their efforts were hindered by some tight bowling from Souths, including brothers Jordan and Liam Lanza.
"Their batting was alright,” Carnell said.
"They had a young side.
"We were just very poor with our batting.”
Carnell hoped to improve in the new year and to see the team place better on the ladder.
"We'll have a few weeks off and go back to training after Christmas,” he said.
He hoped the players would return with new enthusiasm.
Stanthorpe Cricket will have a break for two weeks over Christmas and games are due to recommence on Saturday, January 7.
