Southern Downs roadworks scheduled

THE Department of Transport and Main Roads will reseal roads in the Southern Downs during early March to improve safety and give motorists a smoother ride.

The scheduled works are part of an ongoing maintenance program in the region and will be carried out alongside road recovery and emergency repairs following the recent flood crisis.

Resealing works are scheduled to continue until April, weather permitting.

Regional Director Darling Downs Tony Platz said the scheduled works were important to preserve the roads’ surfaces.

“The resealing will be done in conjunction with continuing repair works from the recent rain events,” he said.

“Our priority still remains opening and maintaining a complete and safe transport network with a strong focus on routes vital to economic recovery.

“Scheduled reseal works are resuming throughout the region to ensure the safety and integrity of the whole road network.

”Roads scheduled for maintenance under the program are the Millmerran-Inglewood Road, the Inglewood-Texas Road, the Texas-Yelarbon Road, Wyaga Road, the Leichhardt and Barwon Highway and the Stanthorpe-Texas Road.

"Traffic control will be in place during the works and motorists should expect some minor delays.

"Working hours will be 6am - 6pm daily from Monday to Saturday.“

We thank drivers for their patience during this vital maintenance program and recovery period,” Mr Platz said.

“Motorists are urged to obey all signage for their own safety and the safety of workers and other road users.”
