SOS goes out for under-manned colts

JOHN O'Leary needs names and says Warwick needs to act fast to field a colts' team in the 2012 Darling Downs Rugby Union competition.

O'Leary said he had just half a dozen players committed to fielding a team.

"We are meeting at Risdon Oval at 6pm Thursday in conjunction with B-grade training and will make a decision then about colts," O'Leary said.

"I need to hear from prospective players early this week, we need 18 players now if we are going to nominate."

Players must be under 19 years of age on December 31 last year to play colts. The minimum age is 17."

O'Leary said in colts' rugby, full engagement was not allowed in scrums.

"The rules for colts' rugby are different, so there is little risk of injury to props who may not be fully developed physically," he said.

Prospective colts' players welcome to call O'Leary on 0407 714 744.

Numbers are looking good for a senior team which is being organised by second rower Dave Young, of Warwick, and half-back Rob Enright, from Stanthorpe.

The junior sign-on will be at Risdon Oval on Saturday from 9.30am to 11am.
