SOS for club hero

WARWICK Cowboys president Don Browne has called on supporters to turn out in force against Dalby on April 28 to help Noel Loudon.

Loudon is in treatment for leukemia and is already putting on some of the weight he lost in his battle against the illness.

"I was lucky to be diagnosed when I was, in January," Loudon said.

"I cut myself working as a cleaner at Carey's Abattoir and went to the Condamine Medical Centre. Due to a recent hip operation, the doctor decided to do more tests in case of infection."

He was taken to hospital in Toowoomba and within two days was diagnosed with leukemia after only feeling unwell for one day.

Loudon has received a lot of support from his employers, the Cowboys, businesses and has personally been called by two-thirds of his class from St Joseph's Christian Brothers College.

"The support has been fantastic, I am feeling a lot better emotionally now," he said.

He will be off work for six months, so the Cowboys plan to help him along with a fundraiser from 3pm during the April 28 games against Dalby.

Loudon played in premiership-winning teams in the first three years of the Cowboys and has been involved as a volunteer in most of the 26 years of the existence of the club.

Cowboys president Don Browne said Noel was second to none for his dedication to the club.

"I remember when I first became involved asking who was the guy running around a lot of training, it was Noel."
