Snapper horsing around

LEO McGuire likes to shoot horses.

More specifically, he likes to shoot people on horses - with a camera that is.

The Melbourne photographer is no stranger to the functions of a DSLR camera, and he's back in Warwick armed and ready to snap.

For more than 10 seasons, he has followed the Victorian polocrosse teams around the world taking photos for his own sheer enjoyment.

"I just love the speed and the agility of horse and rider; it's just stunning," Mr McGuire said.

He doesn't play the sport, nor is he a horse enthusiast, but rather he sees polocrosse as an interesting subject to photograph.

"I have always had an interest in things that move fast in mud, water or dust."

Mr McGuire began his photography with other sports such as cycling, four-wheel-drive mud racing, mountain racing and soon moved on to polocrosse.

"When I was at a Ballarat tournament, Australian captain Cameron Shepherd saw one of the photos I had taken with his boots to the sky and he asked me to come along," he said.

And so, his journey into the world of polocrosse began.

Whether it be England or the other side of the country, Mr McGuire can almost always be spotted in the crowd of a polocrosse match, camera in hand.

He said he does not sell his work through tournaments, but would if approached by a buyer.

If you would like to feast your eyes on some brilliant photography, hail down Mr McGuire and he will be happy to share his works of art.
