'Smooth sailing' as Splendour sells out in less than an hour

SPLENDOUR in the Grass sold out in less than an hour this morning, with music fans snapping up three-day, camping and single day passes to the festival.

Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons, The National and TV on the Radio are the big international headliners on the 77-act bill, with Australian acts Empire of the Sun, The Presets and Flume leading the domestic charge.

Organisers said the Moshtix system "laboured a little" under the demand, but overall it was "smooth sailing".

"What a perfect start for Splendour at our new home, North Byron Parklands," said producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco.

"Our housewarming party is going to be awesome. Please don't bring a pot plant."

There are still a limited number of Country Club tickets available.

The 2013 event will be held at the festival's new permanent home at the North Byron Parklands from July 26 to 28.

The long-planned 660-acre site is located at Yelgun, 20 minutes north of Byron Bay.

Official Splendour sideshow details will be announced on Monday.
