Remains believed to human found on beach

SKELETAL remains believed to be human have been discovered on a beach on Hobart's Eastern Shore.

Tasmania Police said the discovery was made near the water's edge at Lauderdale about 7.45pm yesterday by a man walking his dogs.

"The remains will be subject to forensic testing over the coming days in order to determine if the remains are in fact human," police said in a brief statement this morning.

"Further information on the origin of the remains will be released pending the outcome of forensics analysis, however the skeletal remains appear to be quite old."
