Severe weather warning for region
A SEVERE weather warning has been issued for people in the Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
A vigorous cold front is forecast to pass through southern Queensland during today, moving off the east coast early on Saturday morning.
Damaging winds gusts to 100 km/h are forecast to develop about the Maranoa and Warrego district this morning, extending to the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district during the afternoon and the Southeast Coast district this evening.
The State Emergency Service advises that people in the affected area should:
- Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees
- Secure loose outdoor items
- Beware of fallen trees and powerlines
