Seven crews bring fire on Mount Marlay under control

UPDATE 28/01 11am: A fallen power line started the blaze on Alice St, Stanthorpe on Saturday just after midday.

Two urban and four rural fire crews were called to the scene on the east side of Mt Marlay at 12.20pm.

Four crews fought the blaze from the mountain and additional crews worked from the top of Mt Marlay.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency spokesman said by 2.50pm crews reported to be "getting on top" of the fire.

No homes or structures were damaged in the fire.

An Ergon spokesman has confirmed no properties lost power during the incident.

UPDATE 3.30pm: Crews that attended the fire on the eastern side of Mount Marlay in Stanthorpe have now left the scene.  

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said firefighters were initially called to the blaze at 12.20pm today.  

No homes or structures were damaged in the fire.  

INITIAL 3.15pm: SEVEN fire crews are at the scene of a fire on the eastern side of Mount Marlay in Stanthorpe.  

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the fire was reported at 12.20pm and crews arrived at 12.33pm .

The spokeswoman said the fire was currently contained and under control and no homes or structures were under threat.  

Crews from Stanthorpe, Sugarloaf, Applethorpe, Broadwater and Ballandean are still on the scene and the spokeswoman said the large number of units was a precaution due to the heat.  

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
