Season closers upon us

Football:

THE first ball of the 2018 Football Stanthorpe season was kicked on April 21 and it's all set to conclude on Saturday when five teams are crowned champions of their respective grades on finals day.

Games at CF White Oval are set to get under way slightly earlier than usual, with the Inter and Ballandean Fillies final starting at 10am.

Junior Colts is intended to start at 11.20am, but extra time and penalties could set games back throughout the day.

Junior presentations will start immediately after the Ballandean versus Inter Junior Colts tie at 12.40pm.

"It's been a really good season, a close season,” Football Stanthorpe president Brian Westerhout said.

"There hasn't really been many dominant teams this year so it should make for a good day.

"The finals series has been super close with upsets and some pretty amazing games so the grand finals should be no different.

"We're looking forward to a positive day from the crowd and good luck to all the clubs involved.”

City take on Ballandean in Senior Colts and Ladies, while Stanthorpe United face Ballandean in the day's big A-grade clash.
